Community Empathy Session
Learn how to listen to your communities and how that can help you build better programs and services. We'll be hearing from community empathy experts and human centered design practitioners on how to gather and process insights and apply these techniques to your social enterprise or cause.

Cynthia Cabrera / Rags2Riches

Cynthia Cabrera is one of the first artisans of Rags2Riches and one of the proponents that allowed R2R to reach and train 1000 community artisans and build 10 communities of artisans in 8 years. She is currently R2R's Community Enterprise Manager, designing and implementing programs for community-based artisans.
Ann Hazel Javier / Pusod, Inc ; DLS-CSB
"Emotions and needs pave way to creativity in solving problems."
Ann Hazel is the current Executive Director of an environmental non-profit called Pusod, Inc based in Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines. She is also a current faculty of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, School of Design and Arts under the Multimedia Arts Program where she has been teaching for more than 8 years. She teaches Environmental Education and Communication, Strategic Marketing, and Social Design using the Human Centered Design Toolkit of IDEO among others.
She is passionate about conservation of the natural environment and community empowerment.

Birdie is the general manager and co-founder of Curiosity, a design strategy consultancy that specializes in gathering local insight. As a user researcher, he works closely with designers to create new services and programs for multinationals, NGOs, and the government.

"Design is deciding how to treat people and the world."
“Edmond is a problem solver, design thinker, and relentless all-around tinkerer. His 21-year career spans a variety of engagements, for companies, clients, and customers across different industries, geographies, cultures, and environments.
Edmond has designed all sorts of products, services, and experiences – from the mobile and digital world, to real-world objects and environments, and even the processes and organizations that make it all go round.
He has worked with, mentored, and advised people from all walks of industry, from the frontlines to the C-Suite, from non-profits and foundations to large corporations and startups. Someday, he hopes, they will all come together and build a better world.”

Founded in 1983, this organization uses theater as an avenue for social awareness and discussion of societal issues. Having performed in numerous unconventional spaces such as the school cafeteria, the streets, overpasses, and in marginalized communities, their goal is to embody the truth using effective and creative dramatic arts as they exercise different principles of theater.
